Dear Friends and Family of Bob,
When you think of Bob Gilligan, you think of a guy who has worked hard every day of his life. You think of a guy who is first in line when somebody needs help; a guy who, as owner of K & B Landscaping, cuts down your trees and won’t let you pay what the job is worth. He’s a guy with a passion for hockey, a star-player for Beverly High School, then Salem State College. Now as the hockey coach at BHS, he’s the guy who teaches your son about hockey and what it is like to be a stand-up guy in this world by playing hard and fair and giving back through community service. He’s a guy with countless “buddies” who always insists on buying the first round. Bob is the ultimate “helper” but now finds himself in the last place he wants to be: needing our help.
Bob was first diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in Dec. 2010 and sadly it relapsed in his Central Nervous System this past February. He is currently awaiting a stem cell transplant. Over the course of this battle Bob has been hospitalized several times and his medical bills continue to pile up at an alarming rate. While we all wish there was something we could do to help Bob beat the cancer; that is a battle he must fight alone. What we can do, however, is to help Bob and his family with the costs of this battle so that they can concentrate their thoughts and energy on getting Bob well.
Bob’s friends and family have established an account called “Buds For Bob”. We have two primary fund raising activities planned and look forward to your participation.
The first is a raffle with tickets selling for $100, and a cash prize to the winner of $5,000! Our goal is to sell 200 tickets. We need as many people as possible to purchase a ticket (or two!).
The second event is a combination fund raiser and celebration of Bob called “Buds For Bob” on Friday, July 27th, 2012 from 7 – 12 at the Franco-American Club in Beverly. This will be a night for all of Bob’s friends and family to get together and celebrate having Bob in our lives and raise some money in the process. The night will feature live music, hors d’oeuvres, dancing, raffles and lots of Buds for Bob! Admission is $25 each. The winner of the $5000 will be announced at this event!
Bob Gilligan has spent his entire life doing for others and now we have a chance to show him how much he is loved and respected. We look forward to your participation in any way that you can manage.
If you would like to make a donation please make your check payable to “Buds For Bob” and send it to the Beverly Cooperative Bank 254 Cabot Street Beverly, MA 01915.
